BCP has taken its first step into the Irish retailing market with the implementation of its Accord–Retailer solution at McIntyres convenience store in Letterkenny, Donegal. BCP have worked closely with its new Irish partner – retail systems providers, RST – to deliver the system, which gives MacIntyres all the benefits of modern retail technology, including better customer service and improved operating efficiency.
An independent Mace retailer, operating in Letterkenny for 14 years, McIntyres 2,500 sq ft store sells a comprehensive range of standard groceries and boasts a well-stocked deli counter as well as an in-store café. The new Accord–Retailersystem replaces an old scanning system which provided limited functionality and outdated hardware.
The new implementation comprises BCP’s complete Accord–Retailer integrated retail management system. The modern Windows based PoS operates on 3 state-of-the-art Sharp scanning tills – two in the store and one in the café – to provide speedy customer service, cash control and opportunities for in-store marketing and advertising through the use of GUI technology. Touch screen monitors facilitate fast and easy operation for checkout operators. The tills network to a Windows XP PC running the Accord–Retailer back office system for reporting and product and price maintenance. The whole system incorporates a high degree of resilience allowing the tills to continue to trade should a problem occur anywhere in the network.
McIntyres are delighted with the new system which was installed with minimum disruption to normal trading. Proprietor Eunan MacIntyre says “The system has already helped us to increase efficiency and improve customer service. When we implement stock control and automatic ordering later this year we’ll be able to use the comprehensive sales data and management information generated by the system to streamline stock holdings and tailor product ranges to meet customer preferences, thereby further improving efficiencies and customer service.”
BCP are already well established in the wholesale market in Ireland, with BWG and Musgrave on their impressive client list. They believe that the new partnership with RST and Sharp will help them to gain a similar foothold in the retailing sector.
