Stockport based Business Computer Projects Ltd, supplier of specialist retail and distribution solutions, is celebrating a major success after boosting its turnover by almost 100 per cent.
The result of the third annual quest to find the fastest growing technology companies in the north, was announced at a prestigious awards ceremony held recently at the Palace Hotel in Manchester.
“The technology market is exciting and fast moving and continues to show tremendous growth potential,” says BCP Managing Director, Peter Shield. “The sector has seen continued growth and, as one of the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 companies, we are clearly adapting, harnessing and benefiting from the growth opportunities available.”
“Technology companies are the key to a buoyant economy and employment growth and we are delighted to be part of these awards.“.
The Fast 50 programme is seen as the annual technology ‘Oscars’ and is now in its third successful year, operating in seven regions across the UK and Ireland. Fiona Mackechnie, the Deloitte & Touche partner leading the northern fast 50 programme, said: “The Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 has given us the opportunity to understand the needs of the IT sector – which often differ from the more traditional business – and ultimately offer support to help them achieve their growth potential.”
“Fast 50 companies excel by achieving impressive growth rates. It is important, however, that they continue to focus on business fundamentals, such as quality management, technology ideas that are commercially viable and concentrate on producing a strong revenue stream.”
Simon Cleaver (North West), London Stock Exchange spokesperson commented: “Through techMARK, the London Stock Exchange provides a market for younger, rapidly growing technology companies that wish to raise their profiles as they generate capital to fund further growth.”
“Despite the difficulties facing the sector at the moment, tomorrow’s winning technology companies are still very much in demand and I look forward to welcoming them to this increasingly international marketplace.”
Peter Shield is confident BCP’s record growth will continue over the next few years as “our products are increasingly e-enabled allowing our clients to take full advantage of, and gain real business benefits from, the latest technologies.”
About the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 programme
The programme consists of a series of regional qualifying heats. The six heats cover the Eastern, London & South East, Midlands, South West, Scotland and Northern regions. Each region hosts an awards ceremony to honour the 50 fastest growing technology companies in that area. Following the regional heats, the top 50 companies across the UK are then ranked in April.
