We are seeking an experienced analyst programmer with extensive practical experience in Progress 4GL, an object orientated environment or in UML, to work in a small team of development staff. You should have some experience of customer-facing analysis, as well as technical analysis. You should be personable and presentable in front of users and be able to work with minimum supervision. You need to be articulate, responsible, logical and thorough. Applicants will generally be educated to degree level, although people with A levels and 6 years+ experience will be considered.
You should have an understanding of all phases of computer system development from system specification to acceptance. You should have either successful experience of supporting the work of more junior staff, or unusually high productivity, or a deep knowledge of some pertinent area.
Working knowledge of accounting and commercial practice is essential.
Other qualities include ability to liaise directly with clients, offer solutions to problems and implement; ability to play an active part in user discussions and, where appropriate, to use tact and knowledge of relevant areas of computer applications or systems software;
a proven ability to estimate accurately the content of own work assignments; proven competence in specifying, coding, testing and documenting computer programs in accordance with brief outlines supplied; ability to perform system tests; ability to express both technical problems and solutions clearly, both orally and in writing.
