New Accord system for Pioneer Foodservice

Carlisle based foodservice specialist, Pioneer Foodservice, is investing more than £100,000 in an Accord computer system from supply chain software specialist, BCP (Business Computer Projects Ltd) of Stockport.

A family owned business, more than 100 years old, with a turnover exceeding £18m, Pioneer is a major player in the manufacture and supply of quality foods to the catering market. Interests include restaurants, bars, shops and a cash & carry operation, but the main focus is on Delivered wholesaling, offering a comprehensive range of foods for the caterer. The company services some 1500 customers throughout the north of England and parts of Scotland, including private businesses, area health, local government and schools’ authorities.

The new Accord system encompasses a powerful server, allowing the system to be used by employees throughout the Pioneer estate, and Windows Terminal Services software so that modern Accord Windows modules can be implemented. It will eventually link to all Pioneer retail outlets as well as the food service division.

BCP are supplying the complete system – hardware, software, implementation and services. The hardware installation will be completed by Easter with the software implementation following quickly on its heels. With Telesales and Pricing being so critical to success in the highly competitive foodservice supplies market, Pioneer will be implementing Accord’s redeveloped Product/Price Maintenance and Telesales modules as a first phase of the software implementation. Building on earlier versions, the former offers sophisticated and flexible pricing features, while the latest Telesales module provides a versatile, proactive approach with new customer care and CTI features for improved efficiency and customer service. Other modules to be implemented include Financial ledgers and Purchase Order Processing. Pioneer are also considering implementing Accord’s Web Ordering module which will allow customers to place orders over the Internet.

Company secretary, Katrina Abbott, believes: “The new Accord system will enable us to provide much more information for our sales staff, operate more efficiently and further improve customer service.”
