Whisky specialist and wine and spirit merchant, Gordon & MacPhail has invested in the Accord Voice WMS system from BCP to cover its warehouse operation from door-to-door at its headquarters in Elgin, Scotland.

Established in 1895, family owned and managed Gordon & MacPhail is one of Scotland’s leading independent whisky specialists through wholesaling, bottling, exporting and distilling – owning Benromach Distillery in Forres.

Gordon & MacPhail made history in March this year as is launched the world’s oldest bottled Single Malt Scotch Whisky – a 70-year-old Mortlach – under its Generations brand.

The investment in Voice WMS technology was prompted by Gordon & MacPhail’s wish to modernise and improve warehouse efficiency, by replacing its paper-based warehouse management system with the latest WMS technology.

In a very competitive selection process, BCP’s Accord Voice WMS was chosen due to its ability to provide flexible, integrated warehouse management software able to deliver proven Voice functionality not just for Voice Picking, but across the whole warehouse.

The multi-user Accord Voice WMS will go live early in 2011 and will use XML to interface directly to Gordon & MacPhail’s existing stock management system.

Neil Urquhart, Director of Logistics & Facilities at Gordon & MacPhail said “Through the procurement process we visited a number of different companies throughout the UK to fully understand the strong functionality and benefits the Accord system will bring to us.  We look forward to getting the system up and running, helping us to drive increased efficiency and further enhancing our reputation for delivering exceptional customer service.”
